Insta360 detailed a Summer Update for the X5 on July 15, 2025, headlined by AdaptiveTone, a new exposure system for the dual-lens 360 camera[1]. AdaptiveTone records light data for each lens separately, preserving highlight and shadow detail across the full spherical image, then adjusts exposure automatically based on the perspective the user selects. It is available in 8K30fps and 5.7K30fps 360 Video and in PureVideo.
PureVideo, previously limited to 360 video, now works in Single-Lens Mode as well, extending the camera's low-light processing to standard flat footage with reduced noise and improved color fidelity. Endurance Mode reaches 8K for the first time, recording just under two hours at 8K30fps, while 5.7K24fps runtime rises from 185 to 208 minutes. The new Ultra Battery adds 17% capacity and is rated for a 235-minute run in a 25°C lab test at 5.7K24fps in Endurance Mode; it costs US$49.99 and requires the latest firmware[1].
A new ND Filter Set (ND16, ND32, ND64) is designed for a 360 camera, adding motion blur control with a lens-guard-style mount. A Custom Replacement Lens Kit lets owners fit patterned lenses, and a limited X5 BMW Motorrad Edition bundle ships with a Mini Remote for handlebar control and the Ultra Battery pre-installed. Motorcycle features include Immersive Shake Stabilization in Insta360 Studio, Sena headset integration, automatic plate blur and a GPS Preview Remote with built-in noise-canceling mic[1].
For divers, Insta360 announced the Invisible Dive Case Pro and a Neutral Buoyancy Handle, neither yet on sale, with the handle's launch date still unconfirmed. AquaVision 3.0 now suggests color adjustments matched to underwater footage in the app and Studio, and the X5 can connect to SUUNTO dive computers to overlay depth and time data. On desktop, Insta360 Studio gains Quick Preview for insv files in their folders, and Insta360+ subscribers can access X5 footage in Studio. Buyers who activate an X5 or X5 BMW Motorrad Edition before July 21 receive 200GB of free cloud storage for six months.
