Insta360 announced the X4 Air on October 28, 2025, a 165-gram 360 camera the company describes as its lightest-ever 8K model[1]. It uses dual 1/1.8-inch sensors and records 8K30fps 360 video. The camera comes in Graphite Black and Arctic White and will be sold through store.insta360.com, Amazon and select retailers, with US and Canada availability described as coming soon.
Insta360 says the larger sensors increase pixel area per frame by 134% compared with the X4. An exposure algorithm called AdaptiveTone analyzes light from each lens separately to balance brightness and color across the full 360 image, while Active HDR works at up to 8K30fps. Portrait Mode detects faces and adjusts brightness and color automatically, and the company says enhanced noise reduction improves low-light footage. The lenses are user-replaceable with an ultra-hard optical coating that Insta360 says doubles drop resistance versus the X4; optional lens guards are offered. The body is waterproof to 49 feet (15 meters) and includes FlowState Stabilization and 360° Horizon Lock.
Shooting controls include Twist to Shoot, which starts or stops recording with a twist of the selfie stick, plus gesture and voice control. InstaFrame Mode records a flat video and a full 360 version at the same time. The X4 Air is compatible with most X5 accessories. The Standard Bundle is priced at US$399.99, and the Starter Bundle, which adds a 114cm Invisible Selfie Stick, lens cap and extra battery, is US$439.99; both include a one-year Insta360+ subscription with 200GB of storage for a limited time[1].
