Insta360 announced the X6, its new flagship 8K 360 camera, on August 11, 2026[1]. The body uses two custom Sony 1/1.1-inch square sensors for full 1-inch-class 360 imaging, giving 33% more sensor area than the X5. Processing comes from one 8-core 3.3GHz 4nm chip plus two dedicated imaging chips, which Insta360 says delivers 500% more computing power than the X5. The X6 also supports native in-camera Dolby Vision, working with 10-bit color and more than 1.07 billion recordable colors.
The camera switches between three modes in a tap: native 8K50fps 360 capture, InstaFrame 2.0 subject-tracking flat 4K, and a single-lens action mode at 5K60fps with a 132° field of view; a 170° field of view is available at 5K30fps in Flat mode. A 2.32-inch always-on OLED screen peaks at 1200 nits, and the 2600mAh battery records roughly 140 minutes of 8K30fps 360 video, charging to 80% in 24 minutes. It is waterproof to 20m bare (IP68), and 47GB of 64GB built-in storage is usable, so it can shoot without a card.
Charging triggers the on-device AI Director, which builds a highlight edit and pushes clips to the Insta360 app; Auto Edit 2.0 handles framing, movement, cuts, music and transitions in one tap[1]. The X6 is compatible with more than 100 accessories, including a new Foldable Selfie Stick Remote Kit with joystick control. Its magnetic mount is compatible with X5, X4 Air and Ace mounts. Sales begin August 12, 2026, through the Insta360 Official Store, Amazon and authorized retailers, from $699.99 for the Standard Bundle.
