Insta360 launched the Luna Ultra on June 10, 2026, its first gimbal camera co-engineered with Leica.[1] The dual-lens design pairs a Leica Summicron lens with a 1-inch 8K sensor, alongside a secondary 1/1.3-inch telephoto system with an F2.0 aperture that covers five focal lengths and up to 12x zoom, including 6x lossless. The body weighs just over 200g.
Video tops out at 8K30fps with Dolby Vision, plus 10-bit I-Log capture and up to 14 stops of dynamic range. Photos include 37MP UltraPhotos and 200MP Scenic Panorama, while PureVideo mode reduces noise at up to 4K60fps.[1] A Triple AI Chip system supports processing, and the 3-axis stabilization combines with electronic stabilization; Deep Track 5.0 adds Auto Tracking, Active Zoom Tracking, Group Tracking and Smart Framing.
A detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen allows remote monitoring and control with HD transmission up to 20 meters. The 1550mAh battery is rated for up to four hours and reaches 80% in roughly 23 minutes; built-in storage offers 47GB usable, with support for microSD cards up to 1TB. Documented accessories include a POV Head Tracker, Black Mist Filter, a Wide-Angle Lens expanding the field of view to 108°, and ND Filters, with direct support for Insta360 Mic Pro and Mic Air.
Leica color profiles cover Leica Natural, Vivid and Chrome, with ACES support, built-in timecode and QR Color Share. The Luna Ultra is available from June 10 through the Insta360 Store, Amazon, Best Buy and select retailers, with some markets to follow, in Cosmic Black and Stellar White, starting at US$769.99 in the U.S.[1]
